Plentycast #34

I don't know if the unseasonably good weather is getting to us or not but there was a nice bit of forgetfulness halfway through the latest podcast. Maybe our minds will return once the weather cools down a bit (which looks like it could be as soon as this coming weekend...)

Anyway, unlike us I know, but I digress. We spend the first couple of minutes of the show talking about the man you see on every Mixcloud embed, namely the great Jocky Wilson and what he meant to us growing up in Fife in the 1980s. It's a trite thing to say that this one's for you but I guess it is in this case.

We plough a usual furrow of old and new tracks and I think I may have got the nationality wrong of New Bleeders so apologies for that if it is the case. However, it's a cracking good tune so I hope I'm forgiven. It's a podcast full of cracking tunes so we hope you enjoy.

Do it for Jocky and click on the great man...

Plentycast #33 - The Jeff Mangum ATP Cast

Hello listeners, we're back after a couple of months of inactivity (slackness in the blackness!) and what a splendid show we have for our return.

Over the weekend, John and me were down at the Jeff Mangum curated ATP with a host of others and we decided to record a podcast while we were there. This was recorded yesterday lunchtime in the vast Skyline Pavilion space in Butlins in Minehead - there were no bands playing in there over the weekend so it became this huge hang-out place instead. It seemed like a nice place to do it so away we went.

We're joined by a plethora of special guests popping in and out of proceedings - you'll remember Thom Allott and Andy Cleary from the Fence Cast last year. Also joining us is Jonathan Greer from Slow Thrills zine, Will Fitzpatrick from The 255s who we played last year and last, but not least, our pal and chalet mate Lo-Fi Brian McKinnon.

Everybody picked a couple of songs by bands from the weekend, I put them in roughly date order as to when they played and since it was recorded on the Sunday we could only look forward to the bands playing that day. I can since confirm that Versus and Sebadoh were fucking awesome and John would say the same thing about the former and also Roscoe Mitchell too. Looking back the day after the weekend before, I can honestly say that I enjoyed this weekend very much even though at the time of writing I'm dead tired.

Anyway, I hope we are able to give you a flavour of what went on. Featuring some ATP hubbub in the background (or it could be a knitting machine...) and the interminable clack and clink of the air hockey machines. Enjoy!
